South Central Droid Builders was created on November 21, 2017 by Shane Hebert. He had just started his first droid build and was looking to see if he could find others close to him to collaborate with. Within the first year the group had grown to a small group of builders from all areas of the state of Louisiana. Shane ,who was born and raised in the New Orleans area and now lived in Mississippi, decided to not only focus on Louisiana but Mississippi as well on the hunt for more builders and/or those who where interested. At the time of writing this we are around 4 years in and we are around 20 active members who are currently working on or have completed their builds. With the COVID pandemic we haven't done much with events or cons, but I'm happy to say that it finally seems to be coming back. We are hoping to continue to inspire new builders young and old to journey with us on a challenging but very rewarding hobby. Nothing makes us more happy when we see a child ,or adults, face light up because of our creations. We don't get paid for this, we do it because we enjoy it. So if your interested in starting a new hobby let us know and we can put you on a new path.
